Radio-television tower on Sljeme

Abstract

Prompted by the twenty-fifth anniversary of the construction of the television and telecommunications tower on the highest peak of Medvednica, Sljeme, the author, who is also the chief designer of the tower, describes the tower's features, from the initial concept to its construction. The structure consisting of the bottom reinforced-concrete portion 92.0 m high, and the top steel portion 78.0 m high, is presented. The tower structure is described, and the method used for the analysis of the reinforced-concrete and steel portions of the tower, including its foundations, is presented. Some basic data about the construction process are also given.
