Long-term deformations on cantilever girder bridges

Jure Radić, Zlatko Šavor, Igor Gukov

Abstract

Long term deformations are a crucial problem on reinforced-concrete cantilever girder bridges. In fact, a great difference has been revealed between the calculated and subsequently measured deflection values on most of such bridges built over the past fifty years. It is still not clearly understood what parameters trigger such deflections. The analysis of data from a number of bridges realized all over the world is given, and possible reasons for great deformations and poor correspondence with design values, are presented.
